Jennifer Grey referred to her ex-fiancé Johnny Depp as “crazy and jealous” in her autobiography Out Of The Corner, in which she detailed their fleeting relationship.
When her memoir was published during the Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s libel trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard, the Dirty Dancing star’s words first made headlines.
In recalling their engagement, the actor disclosed that their relationship began to deteriorate when Depp began to divide his time between Vancouver and Los Angeles.
Jennifer Grey ponders her ‘paranoid’ engagement to Johnny Depp.
She revealed that the Hollywood actor would be “crazy jealous and paranoid” about what she had been doing while he was abroad on business in 1989, when they were engaged.
Grey wrote, “He began missing his flights home to Los Angeles due to oversleeping, and when he did return, he was insanely jealous and paranoid about what I’d been up to while he was away.”
She added, “I attributed his bad temper and unhappiness to his feeling miserable and helpless to leave [the television series] 21 Jump Street.”
Grey continued, “Johnny commuted back and forth from Vancouver every week, but he was getting into more and more trouble: bar fights and skirmishes with police.”
Without taking sides during Depp and Heard’s defamation trial in 2022, Grey told Entertainment Tonight, “All I can say is that it tears my heart for everyone involved.
She added, “I just find it sad, I wish it were resolved, and I wish everyone the best.”
