Tyler ICU, as Austin Baloyi, is ruling the amapiano world with singles.
The teenage producer gained attention with “Bella Ciao” from the “Money Heist” album, featuring Nicole Elocin, Kabza De Small, and DJ Maphorisa.
Since then, he has worked with various famous amapiano performers and established his reputation.
The song’s catchphrase, “uTyler, uTyler,” made the young producer famous.
Tyler ICU means “intensive care unit” and “you see me”.
“Either you see me or feel my music,” and with the heated discharges, all eyes are on him.
“Ngimoja” by Khanyisa, Tumelo_ZA, and Tyrondee started the year.
After “iThuba” with Zee_Nhle, Tyler released “Mnike,” which had fans going crazy.
I’m grateful I’m at this position and didn’t have to lose my sound. I appreciate exploring new sounds and combining them in music.
“I like creating something new and fusing sounds,”
The cover image for “Ngimoja,” which means “I’m good/fine,” portrays Tyler’s face with a dark and bright side. The producer says the darker side reflects his despair since his relationship wasn’t working and his music was performing well.
He’s discovered the light and is happy.
“Most of my songs, especially for myself, are stories. Since I consider music as storytelling, I’ve always wanted to do it.
“Mnike,” meaning “give him/her,” ranked second on the Official SA Local Top 100 and International Top 200 charts. Tyler calls this his most enjoyable tune.
“Fusing sounds, discovering what will be nice if I throw in ‘Haike, haike’, that was really fun seeing what would work.”
He created hip hop hits including Dr. Peppa’s “What It Is,” with Riky Rick, Lucasraps, and Chang Cello, and Cassper Nyovest’s “Good For That,” which went Gold.
“Ungazincishi,” featuring Focalistic, was his second collaboration with Rick. Tyler thanks Rick for promoting him in the streets.
I was shocked by his faith in me. that someone may just believe in something you are still constructing for yourself and see the vision. He thought many hip-hop artists may have copied our sound.”
Tyler said he would have to see, especially with all the hip hop happening in the country.
I need to witness hip hop’s changes. I’m still adjusting to the Pretoria sound. I’m experimenting and learning.
Tyler’s EP “Banyana” with DJ Maphorisa includes “Izolo” and “Banyana,” which went double platinum.
Tyler said the great producer helped him with music industry.
Tyler is working with new producers and vocalists to widen his reach, so fans can expect more dance-floor hits this year.
