At the most recent Star Wars Celebration 2023, Disney+ revealed a number of upcoming projects, some of which are web series. These series include “The Mandalorian” Season 3, “Ahsoka,” “Andor” Season 2, and others.
According to the official Star Wars homepage, further initiatives will concentrate on expanding the current Star Wars history and mythology, with an emphasis on both the “great past” and the “distant future” after the events of the second trilogy. This expansion will take place in both time periods.
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, has stated in the past that the upcoming Star Wars films would focus on eras of the Star Wars history that are very distinct from one another. However, she has been careful to keep most of the specifics a secret.
New ‘Star Wars’ Projects Expand Franchise Lore and Mythology
One of them will investigate things from the very beginning, concentrating on where the Force came from. James Mangold, director of the film ‘Logan’ and currently in the headlines because of the upcoming film ‘Dial of Destiny’ starring Indiana Jones, will be in charge of the project as its leader.
Additionally, Dave Filoni, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Taika Waititi are all slated to work on new Star Wars projects in the near future.
Prior to this, Kennedy was quoted as saying that the next sequel films will take place 15 years after the events of “The Rise of Skywalker.” After the destruction of the First Order and the near extinction of the Jedi, it is now up to Jedi Master Rey to establish a new Order based on the teachings that Luke Skywalker passed on to her.
