As a pandemic of domestic violence strikes Ongata Rongai, there is shock 2023

Crimes in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, have alarmed residents.

Domestic abuse killed five children in a week.

A father and his two children were slain by unknown intruders on June 4. The father’s body was thrown at Maasai Lodge, while his children’s remains were in the home.

Relatives said the wife left a day after the man returned from Qatar. She may have committed the crime.

Mzee Paul Lagat, the father of the dead, said unknown individuals killed his son Amos Kirwa and his two children Elizabeth Chepkurui, eight, and Kiprotich Lagat, five.

Kirwa’s passport shows he traveled to Qatar on December 4, 2018, seeking better opportunities. On May 12, 2023, he divorced.

Lagat feels his son’s unemployment caused Kirwa and Deborah Cherop’s divorce.

Since their mother relocated to a nearby estate, Lagat’s grandkids would visit him on weekends.

Cherop was arrested for murdering her husband and children.

Investigators wanted her for several days.

The 31-year-old and his children died from bleeding after their throats were cut, according to post-mortem results.

Family dispute

A week later, two 6- and 2-year-old toddlers were discovered stabbed to death in their rented house.

Slitting her throat, their mother attempted suicide.

According to neighbors, the children’s father called for help but no one arrived.

An unidentified neighbor said the man had many stab wounds.

According to Kajiado North Police Commander Hussein Abduba, Sinai Hospital sent them to Kenyatta National Hospital in severe condition.

After Rodgers Andere came late, Christine Karimi and her husband argued, neighbors said.

The couple’s caregiver, Paul Isaboke, told The Nairobian that he heard a ruckus in the early morning before the husband cried for aid.

“I rushed to see what was happening and found the two minors lying in a pool of blood,” stated Isamboke.

Ongata Rongai neighbors want swift inquiries into the occurrences.

Benard Kisoso stated domestic violence instances are rising in this area.

In another incidence, schoolmates sexually molested a five-year-old girl in Rongai.The kid informed her mother that numerous Grade Three students sexually assaulted her every evening on her walk home from school.
