Crimes in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, have alarmed residents.

Domestic abuse killed five children in a week.

A father and his two children were slain by unknown intruders on June 4. The father’s body was thrown at Maasai Lodge, while his children’s remains were in the home.

Relatives said the wife left a day after the man returned from Qatar. She may have committed the crime.

Mzee Paul Lagat, the father of the dead, said unknown individuals killed his son Amos Kirwa and his two children Elizabeth Chepkurui, eight, and Kiprotich Lagat, five.

Kirwa’s passport shows he traveled to Qatar on December 4, 2018, seeking better opportunities. On May 12, 2023, he divorced.

Lagat feels his son’s unemployment caused Kirwa and Deborah Cherop’s divorce.

Since their mother relocated to a nearby estate, Lagat’s grandkids would visit him on weekends.

Cherop was arrested for murdering her husband and children.

Investigators wanted her for several days.
